What fun summer days out can you enjoy in Berkshire?

Published in General

So, you're contemplating a stay at the chic and modern Regency Park Hotel, but have you considered the great places for a day out in our wider locality? After all, the county of Berkshire holds a great number of fun attractions and plenty of Royal history to make it the ideal spot for a getaway over the summer.

Here are just a few great ideas to help you and your family to get the most out of Berkshire during your stay with us.

Windsor Castle

Berkshire is not only the birthplace of the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, but it's also the home of the historic Royal residence, Windsor Castle.

Windsor Castle is open throughout the year, with tours available that give visitors an insight into the history of Windsor and the Royal Family.

Legoland

Windsor is also home to the UK's only Legoland resort, which is also the largest Legoland in the world. The resort boasts a great variety of fun and engaging rides and attractions that make it perfect for family days out.

Splash Battle at Pirate Shores, the river rapids of the Land of the Vikings, and many more attractions provide guaranteed fun for both parents and children. There is even a Duplo Valley within the resort for very young children to enjoy.

Newbury and Ascot Racecourses

Two famous racecourses can be found in Berkshire, both of which regularly hold race days for would-be spectators. Newbury not only hosts regular races but also boasts lavish restaurants that provide delicious gourmet cooking with a great view of the track.

Ascot, meanwhile, famously hosts the Royal Ascot races, which are attended by members of the Royal Family including the Queen herself.

Highclere Castle

Throughout July, August and a few other times during the year, the illustrious Highclere Castle and its beautiful gardens are open to the public.

This Jacobethan castle has a long history of distinguished owners, but more recently has been used as the setting for the hit period drama Downtown Abbey.

The castle also holds a series of public events, including Battle Proms, a delightful picnic concert featuring classical music and choreographed cavalry displays.

With attractions like these to be found throughout Berkshire, what more reason could you possibly require to book a stay at Regency Park Hotel over the summer? We look forward to seeing you - and remember that we are also one of the premier wedding venues in Berkshire, just in case you are tempted to come back and tie the knot with us!
